5,000 olive trees for Nature and People

Our program "5,000 olive trees for Nature and People" - co-financed by Impact Europe (network of impact investors of the European Union) - is a commitment project with the objectives of absorbing 100 tons of carbon per year and developing the employability of rural women and young people in the region. Operationally, the project is based on a planting campaign of 5,000 olive trees and 500 carob trees, the production of 10 tons of vegetable compost per year, and the creation and dissemination of a booklet sharing good practices with 350 farmers in the governorate of Manouba.

Our Environmental Goals

Preserve Agricultural Land: Safeguard a 10-hectare agricultural space on the hills, protecting it from the growing pressure of urban development in the region.

Protect Tunisian Botanical Heritage: Contribute to the preservation of Tunisia’s botanical heritage by maintaining local olive varieties (Chetoui, Chemlali, Sayeli...), countering the global trend toward standardizing high-yield varieties.

Sustainable, Non-Intensive Farming: Continue practicing non-intensive farming methods that have a positive impact on soil preservation and promote long-term ecological health.

Our Economic Objectives

Sustain and Develop Employment in Rural/Péri-Urban Areas: Increase the available work opportunities in regions with low employment rates and limited public transport networks, helping to improve local livelihoods.

Boost Purchasing Power: Raise the income of day laborers and heads of households in rural areas, contributing to improved economic conditions and quality of life for these communities.

Our Social Objectives

Support Women's Professional Activities: Provide equal pay for equal work, ensuring that women are compensated on the same salary scale as men, promoting gender equality in the workplace.

Foster Long-Term, Sustainable Engagement: Involve all stakeholders in a project that prioritizes social impact over immediate productivity and profitability, ensuring that the focus remains on sustainable development and collective well-being.
